Imprisoned underground by the one who makes you proud; deceiver, deceiver. I am truly alone; sorrows make my bones. You know you're lost inside this hateful melody; sing with me! La, la, la, la, la, la, la! Choke on these words; I rule the dirt beneath your feet. A dying breed, but that’s soon to change. I pull your veins now that the world is on its knees. My slaves and I will play your strings and put you in a deep sleep, grinding your teeth. It's like you’ve woken from a dream; my fantasy’s reality. Oh my God, why don't you deliver me? (La, la, la, la, la, la, la!) I will not fight it. (La, la, la, la, la, la, la!) Oh my God, this melody sounds so sweet; (La, la, la, la, la, la, la!) I cannot fight it! (La, la, la, la, la, la, la!) It's been three years, and you are still under my arm. It's been three years, and you still know my name. We followed your bones, mummified your circuitry; you’re still tangled in my teeth, I’m tearing up your flesh. Your soul’s dying; a lack of life. You’re too weak to give a fight. I will devour you. No, I’m getting out, getting out. No one's gonna hear you shout. I'm getting out. No one will hear you. No, no, no, I’m getting out, getting out! No one's gonna hear you shout! No one, No one, No one! Oh my souls, rejoice, rejoice, rejoice to the Son of the Morning! (Oh my God why don't you deliver me? I will not fight it.) Souls, rejoice, rejoice, rejoice to the Son of the Morning! (Oh my God why don't you deliver me? I cannot fight it.) La, la, la, la, la, la, la!

This time, there's really nothing to moan about! I've criticized the band's previous two albums for containing too much pointless improvisations, while, at the same time, I highly appreciated the brilliant songwriting. "Farmhouse Odyssey" have used the past three years wisely for perfecting the latter, and I like the way they root their music in the sound of the 70's, while avoiding the annoying stereotypes of this decade. I'm especially pleased to find a 12-minute track here, that doesn't sound like assembled from parts in the beginner's prog construction kit. Sven B. Schreiber (sbs)
